THE RUNNING OF THE BULLS AT BLANCA NEXT RUN 12TH AUGUST, 2005 !! Ernest Hemingway brought the running of the bulls to life. |
Hemingway is lauded as one of the greatest American writers of the twentieth century.
Considered a master of the understated prose style which became his trademark,
he was awarded the 1954 Nobel Prize in literature. Although his literary stature
is secure, he remains a highly controversial writer, and his novels and
short stories have evoked an enormous amount of critical commentary. Hemingway loved Spain - its land, its people, its food, its culture and bullfighting. The great American writer was a universal herald for the fiestas of Pamplona. His contribution was fundamental in turning a small home-town festival, hardly known outside of Spain, into one of the most famous festivals in the world and a centre of attraction thenceforth for thousands upon thousands of foreign tourists, many of them seduced by the writings of the author of Fiesta. Reasons enough why people from Blanca, among them SACRIS, were in direct contact with Hemingway. Blanca is situated inside the Costa Calida and was one of the six villages of the famous Valle de Ricote. |
